Daylit’s AI email drafting generates a ready-to-send collection email for each customer action, tailored to that customer’s invoice details, payment history, and prior communication context. Rather than writing emails from scratch or adapting a generic template by hand, your team can review an AI draft, make any adjustments, and send — all within the same panel. The AI reads your configured templates and snippets to match your company’s tone and format, then fills in the specifics for each customer automatically.

How AI email drafting works

When Daylit generates an email draft, the AI agent pulls together several pieces of context:
  • Customer profile — Company name, payment behavior, and relationship history.
  • Invoice data — Invoice numbers, amounts, due dates, and days past due for all relevant open invoices.
  • Communication history — Prior emails, calls, and actions taken, so the draft acknowledges recent contact rather than starting over.
  • Template stage — The intended stage of the collection lifecycle (for example, pre-due, first reminder, final notice), which shapes the tone and content of the draft.
  • Your templates and snippets — The subject and body templates you have configured, with any reusable snippet blocks inserted in the appropriate places.
The result is a draft with a subject line, formatted body, and pre-filled recipient details — ready for you to review and send.

Where to find AI-drafted emails

AI-generated email drafts appear in two places: Action Center (Inbox → Needs action) When the AI recommends an email action for a specific customer and invoice, it creates a draft and attaches it to the action. Click any email action row to open the draft in the side panel. Sequence queue (Inbox → Sequences) When a sequence step with type “email” becomes ready, Daylit renders the step’s template with live data for that customer and surfaces it in the sequence queue. Click a queue row to view the rendered draft before sending.
For collection program emails, the rendered content appears inside the review batch panel when the touchpoint is in review delivery mode. See the Collection programs page for details on review batches.

Review and edit a draft before sending

Every AI-drafted email is fully editable before it leaves your mailbox.
  1. Open the action, sequence queue row, or review batch in the inbox.
  2. The email panel displays the subject line, body, and recipient fields.
  3. Click into any field to edit it directly:
    • Subject — Modify or replace the AI-generated subject line.
    • Body — Edit the email body text, reformat paragraphs, or add custom messaging.
    • To, CC, BCC — Add, remove, or change recipients. Daylit pre-fills the primary contact email from the customer record.
  4. When you are satisfied with the draft, click Send. The email is delivered immediately through your connected email account.
If you want to regenerate the AI draft with different instructions — for example, to use a softer tone or reference a specific payment arrangement — use the Regenerate option in the email panel and enter your instructions before re-running the agent.

Use snippets in email templates

Snippets are reusable content blocks that you define once and reference in any email template. Common examples include a payment portal link, your company’s bank transfer instructions, or a standard legal disclaimer. To add a snippet to a template, insert the snippet reference at the desired position in the body template. When Daylit renders the email, the snippet content is inserted inline and rendered with any relevant variables (such as the customer’s account number or the invoice total). Snippets are managed in SettingsSnippets. Each snippet has:
  • A name used to reference it in templates.
  • A body containing the reusable text or HTML.
  • Optional variables that are resolved at render time.

Override a snippet for a specific customer

In some cases you may want a different version of a snippet for one customer — for example, providing wire transfer instructions for an international customer rather than the standard ACH instructions. To override a snippet for a specific customer:
  1. Open the customer’s record.
  2. Find the snippet overrides section.
  3. Add an override for the specific snippet, entering the custom content.
When Daylit renders an email for that customer, it uses the customer-level override instead of the global snippet definition. All other customers continue to receive the standard snippet content.

Send emails via your connected email account

Emails are sent through your own email account using the Nylas email integration, not through a Daylit-owned address. This means:
  • Emails arrive in your customer’s inbox from your actual business email address.
  • Replies from customers land in your connected mailbox and are tracked in Daylit.
  • Your email appears in your outbox and sent folder like any other sent email.
To connect your email account, go to SettingsIntegrations and follow the Nylas setup flow. You can connect multiple email accounts — one per team member — and assign a specific mailbox to each sequence or collection program.
If your email connection becomes unhealthy or disconnected, Daylit will not be able to send emails on your behalf. Check SettingsIntegrations if you notice emails are failing to deliver.

Email thread tracking

When a customer replies to a collection email, Daylit captures the reply and attaches it to the communication thread for that customer and invoice. You can view the full thread — your outbound emails and any customer replies — in the customer’s communication history. If you have configured a sequence with Send follow-ups in thread enabled, subsequent email steps in that sequence are sent as replies within the same email thread, keeping the conversation context visible to both your team and the customer. Thread tracking depends on the Nylas integration remaining connected and healthy. Replies are synced from your inbox automatically; no manual action is required to pull them into Daylit.
